This describes steps required to install and configure client side software.

  • OS: Windows XP SP2
  • RAM: 256MB, Recommended: 512MB
  • CPU: Intel Pentium IV
  • Broadband Internet Connectivity

[edit] Procedure

Download and install following:

Now download following zip file. Unpack it and run Setup.bat

Once through with this, restart the PC, attach the fingerprint reader and run application. You should see the application with status as "Online".

[edit] Installing missing components

Sometimes your installation may be incomplete because of absence of certain Library files. Please find the list of these library files below:

[edit] The Visual Basic Runtime

Please visit http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290887/ to know more about how VBRun60sp6.exe installs Visual Basic 6.0 SP6 run-time files. Download the VBRun60sp6.exe from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=7B9BA261-7A9C-43E7-9117-F673077FFB3C.

This installs following files:

  • Asycfilt.dll 2.40.4275.1 144 KB (147,728 bytes)
  • Comcat.dll 4.71.1460.1 21.7 KB (22,288 bytes)
  • Msvbvm60.dll 6.0.97.82 1.32 MB (1,386,496 bytes)
  • Oleaut32.dll 2.40.4275.1 584 KB (598,288 bytes)
  • Olepro32.dll 5.0.4275.1 160 KB (164,112 bytes)
  • Stdole2.tlb 2.40.4275.1 17.5 KB (17,920 bytes)

VBRun60sp6.exe also installs the following files. These files are supporting files for the VBRun60sp6.exe self-extracting file:

MDAC is installed by default on Windows XP.

Please download correct version of the following files and copy them to c:\windows\system32 folder and run the batch file.

  • MSSTDFMT.DLL Microsoft Standard Data Formating Object DLL
  • COMCT232.OCX Microsoft Common Controls 2 ActiveX Control DLL
  • MSCOMCT2.OCX Microsoft Common Controls 2 ActiveX Control DLL
  • MSCOMCTL.OCX Windows Common Controls ActiveX Control DLL
  • comctl32.dll Common Controls Library
  • comdlg32.dll Common Dialogs DLL
  • shell32.dll Windows Shell Common Dll
  • shlwapi.dll Shell Light-weight Utility Library

Now download batch file http://www.biometricattendance.com/register.bat and run it. It should register all the OCXs in the correct order.

[edit] DSN not created

If you have not installed system properly, there can be several issues. One of those is DSN or Data Source Name not pointing to correct location. It may give you error: Microsoft OLE DB provider for ODBC drivers 2147467259 data source name not found and no default driver specified.

To rectify follow the steps:

Try and install the application again. Refer to the CD that has been given to you. Please run the SaaS client setup. If that does not help you refer to following steps.

  • Click on Start -> Run
  • Type ODBCAD32 in the box and click OK button.
  • You will see various tabs at the top of window that has opened. Click on System DSN tab.
  • You should see dsnsptodblocal and dsnsptodb as two dsns in the list.
  • Following topics discuss how to create those DSNs

[edit] Creating DSN dsnsptodblocal

  • Click on ADD
  • Select Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb) and click on finish.
  • Now a window will open with title ODBC Microsoft Access Setup.
  • Write "dsnsptodblocal" in the box Data Source Name.
  • Click on Select and browse to the "Seed Offline Snehapadma Attendnace Data.mdb". Normally it is folder c:\Program Files\Snehapadma\Attendance System. Click OK.
  • Again click OK

  • Please make sure that myodbc drivers are installed on the PC.
  • Run the SaaSClientSetup.exe that is provided to you on CD.
